PVC DWV level invert tapers are used between a smaller pipe and a larger fitting where the bottom inside surface of the pipework needs to remain level through the change in size.
The smaller end is a female socket that fits over PVC DWV pipe of the corresponding nominal size. The larger end is a pipe-size spigot with the same outside diameter as matching pipe, allowing it to fit into a compatible female socket fitting of the larger nominal size.
The tapered offset design of the fitting allows you to keep the inside bottom of both sides level.
The socket and pipe-size spigot connections are joined using PVC priming fluid and suitable non-pressure PVC solvent cement. This joining method is known as a solvent weld joint, or SWJ.
PVC DWV pipe is identified by its nominal size, which may differ from its measured outside diameter. Where the nominal size and outside diameter correspond, selected level invert tapers can also be used with compatible PVC stormwater pipework.
PVC DWV pipe and fittings are suitable for use in stormwater, sewerage, wastewater, vent, and other non-pressure applications.
