The solenoid operates the valve in response to the irrigation controller. If the solenoid fails but the valve body is still serviceable, replacing it allows you to retain the existing valve and pipework.
AC and continuous DC coils remain powered during operation. DC-latching coils use a brief pulse to change position, making them suitable for compatible battery-powered controllers.
Choose by valve model and manufacturer part number, then check the voltage and operating type. For Bermad coils, also match the two-way or three-way configuration and the NC or NO designation on the existing solenoid.
Check the controller and wiring before replacing a solenoid. Debris or a damaged diaphragm inside the valve can also cause operating problems and will need separate attention.
Turn off the water supply and controller power before removing the solenoid. Follow the valve manufacturer’s fitting instructions and use waterproof connectors for the wiring.
