PVC DWV vent cowls are fitted to the open end of a DWV vent pipe to provide a protected termination while allowing the drainage system to vent to atmosphere.
Vent pipes allow air to enter and leave the sanitary drainage system as wastewater moves through the pipework. A vent cowl protects and finishes the exposed pipe opening without closing off the ventilation path.
Standard vent cowls provide wide ventilation openings. Insect proof vent cowls have narrow openings to restrict entry by insects. Mesh insect proof vent cowls have wider openings and use a wire mesh barrier to restrict entry by insects. Waterproof vent cowls have a weather hood to protect the vent opening from direct rainfall, and also include a wire insect proof mesh.
Each cowl has a female socket that fits over matching PVC DWV pipe and is joined using PVC priming fluid and suitable non-pressure PVC solvent cement. This is known as a solvent weld joint, or SWJ.
Manufactured from PVC-U for non-pressure DWV applications. The nominal cowl size corresponds to the nominal PVC DWV pipe size it is designed to suit.
For PVC-U drain, waste and vent systems to AS/NZS 1260.
