Butterfly sprinklers for garden and agricultural watering. Water turns the spinner, throwing the spray upwards and around the head. The water then falls onto the plants from above, helping it reach those behind nearer foliage.
Position each head so the spray can clear nearby foliage. How well it reaches behind plants depends on the mounting height and the height and density of the foliage.
Both standard brass inlet sizes operate at 150–250 kPa. At 200 kPa they use 16L/min and reach a 6.1m radius, equivalent to a 12.2m wetted diameter. The chart gives 14.5L/min and a 6.0m radius at 150 kPa, or 18L/min and a 6.2m radius at 250 kPa.
The Raindrop models use 17L/min at 200 kPa, with a maximum operating pressure of 200 kPa. Space them up to 6m apart in a triangular layout with staggered rows, or up to 5m apart in a square layout. These measurements describe the distance between heads rather than the watering radius of one sprinkler.
Rotoframe models have a 15mm or 20mm female BSP inlet and a 5mm nozzle. Both the spinner and frame rotate. At 200 kPa, the manufacturer performance table gives 14.7L/min and a 12m wetted diameter, equivalent to a 6m radius.
The zinc/chrome model has a 15mm male inlet and a 6m watering radius.
Detailed manufacturer specifications and performance data are not available for the basic plastic butterfly sprinkler (15mm female thread).
