Rain Bird 5000 Series rotors for lawn and landscape irrigation.

Rain Curtain nozzles produce large droplets to help resist wind drift, with close-in watering around the sprinkler. The heavy-duty case and wiper seal help protect the working parts from debris. The removable filter can be cleaned during servicing.

The standard-pressure models cover a 7.6–15.2 metre radius across nozzle and pressure options. The stainless steel PRS model covers 8.8–14.1 metres across its supplied nozzles at 400 kPa inlet pressure. Radius is the distance from the sprinkler to the outer edge of the watering pattern.

The spray arc adjusts from 40° to 360°. The top adjustment screw lets you shorten watering distance by up to 25%. Eight standard and four low-angle nozzles provide different flow and coverage options. Choose the nozzle for both watering distance and arc so sprinklers on the same zone apply water at similar rates.

The plastic 5000 PLUS model adds individual flow shutoff and a SAM check valve. Shutoff allows nozzle changes and servicing while the rest of the zone remains on; SAM reduces drainage through lower heads after watering.

The stainless steel PLUS model adds a stainless steel-covered riser, SAM check valve and PRS pressure regulation. SAM reduces drainage from lower heads after watering, while PRS regulates nozzle pressure to approximately 310 kPa.

The nominal 100mm pop-up bodies have a 20mm female inlet. Nozzle selection, pressure and model determine watering radius and flow; the specifications separate the standard and pressure-regulated configurations.

The overall body height is 185mm when retracted.

✓ Radius Reduction
Turn the top nozzle-retaining adjustment screw clockwise with a flat-blade screwdriver to reduce the watering distance by up to 25%.

✓ Arc Adjustment
Set the spray arc from the top with a flat-blade screwdriver. The slip clutch allows the left-hand edge of the watering pattern to be repositioned.

✓ Sprinkler Spacing
Spacing is the distance between neighbouring sprinklers.
For head-to-head coverage, each sprinkler throws water far enough to reach the next sprinkler. This overlap helps water the area between them evenly.
Use the actual watering distance after adjustment when planning the spacing.
A square layout places sprinklers on a square grid. A triangular layout uses staggered rows.

Precipitation rate describes how quickly water is applied across the area, measured in millimetres per hour.
Standard-pressure 5000 and plastic 5000 PLUS; standard and low-angle nozzles.
For example, with the 3.0 standard nozzle at 300 kPa, a 180° half-circle arc and sprinklers spaced 12.1 metres apart:
Square layout: 9 mm/hour.
Triangular layout: 11 mm/hour.

For example, with the 3.0 standard nozzle at 400 kPa inlet pressure, a 180° half-circle arc and sprinklers spaced 12.1 metres apart:

At the same pressure, the same nozzle uses essentially the same flow whatever the arc setting. A smaller arc concentrates that water over a smaller area.
Different nozzle sizes can help balance watering between smaller and larger arcs, but they also change the watering distance. Choose nozzles that maintain head-to-head coverage; changing nozzle size alone may not suit an existing layout.
Where suitable nozzle combinations cannot provide similar watering rates, put sprinklers with different watering rates on separate zones so their run times can be set independently.
