The Toro 101VB15 air/vacuum breaker allows air into the irrigation system under vacuum conditions created during shutdown and dripline drainage. This helps reduce the risk of dirt being drawn into drippers.
The plastic body connects through a 15mm male thread and uses a Buna-N O-ring seal. Its maximum pressure rating is 1000kPa.
Air intake increases as vacuum increases. The published intake is 34 cubic metres per hour at 10kPa vacuum, increasing to 80 cubic metres per hour at 40kPa vacuum. These figures describe air entering the valve under vacuum, rather than water flow.
Position the vacuum breaker at a high point within the irrigation zone, connected to the lines that need vacuum relief. Keep the valve accessible and its air opening clear of soil and standing water.
