HUNTER PGP ULTRA GEAR DRIVE SPRINKLERS

Hunter PGP Ultra Gear Drive Sprinklers for lawn reticulation. Automatic arc return restores the watering pattern if the turret is moved, while the non-strippable drive helps protect the mechanism. Standard and low-angle nozzles suit different coverage requirements, and QuickCheck lets you turn the sprinkler head by hand and feel the stops at either end of the watering arc.

The Hunter gear drive adjustment tool is required for arc adjustment and is also used for nozzle installation and radius adjustment.

✓ Inlet: 20mm (3/4") BSP female
✓ Coverage: 7.3–14 metre radius across supplied nozzle options
✓ Spray Pattern: 50°–360°
✓ Recommended Pressure: 170–450 kPa
✓ Flow: 4.5–36.9 L/min across the supplied nozzle and pressure options
✓ Pop-Up Height: 100mm on pop-up models; fixed shrub model also available

For shorter watering distances, the black short-radius nozzle rack provides a 4.9–7.6 metre radius across nozzle and pressure options.

A replacement riser seal is available for servicing PGP Ultra and I-20 sprinklers.

Black Hunter PGP Ultra pop-up sprinkler with blue nozzle and extended riser

Hunter PGP Ultra Gear Drive Sprinklers for lawn reticulation.

Automatic arc return brings the sprinkler back to its chosen pattern if the turret is turned out of position. A non-strippable drive helps protect the mechanism, while standard and low-angle nozzles provide flexibility across open lawn areas.

The PGP Ultra provides a 7.3–14 metre radius across the supplied nozzle options. Radius is the distance from the sprinkler to the outer edge of the watering pattern. Recommended operating pressure is 170–450 kPa.

The spray arc adjusts from 50° to 360°. The top adjustment screw lets you shorten the watering distance. Choose the nozzle for both watering distance and arc so sprinklers on the same zone apply water at similar rates.

The Hunter gear drive adjustment tool is required for arc adjustment and is also used for nozzle installation and radius adjustment.

The 100mm pop-up retracts after watering, while the fixed shrub model provides above-ground watering. Both have a 20mm BSP female inlet and a 190mm body height.

QuickCheck lets you turn the sprinkler head by hand and feel the stops at either end of the watering arc.

Each sprinkler comes with eight blue standard and four grey low-angle nozzles. Standard trajectory: 25°. Low-angle trajectory: 13°.

Warranty: Five years.

For shorter watering distances, the black short-radius nozzle rack provides a 4.9–7.6 metre radius across nozzle and pressure options.

A replacement riser seal is available for servicing PGP Ultra and I-20 sprinklers.

Hunter PGP Nozzle Performance Guide

✓ Product Type and Application
Hunter PGP Ultra Gear Drive Sprinklers.

✓ Dimensions and Connection
Inlet: 20mm (3/4") BSP female.
Hunter PGP Ultra 100mm Pop-Up Rotor:
Pop-up height: 100mm.
Overall body height when retracted: 190mm.
Riser: plastic.
Hunter PGP Ultra Shrub Rotor:
Fixed shrub model: above-ground rotor watering.
Overall height: 190mm.

✓ Coverage and Spray Pattern
Radius: 7.3–14 metres across the supplied blue and grey nozzle options at 170–450 kPa, before radius reduction.
Radius is the distance from the sprinkler to the outer edge of the watering pattern.
Spray arc: Adjustable 50°–360°.
Black short-radius nozzles, sold separately, cover 4.9–7.6 metres.

✓ Pressure & Flow
Recommended pressure: 170–450 kPa.
Operating pressure: 140–700 kPa.
Flow across supplied blue and grey nozzle options: 4.5–36.9 L/min.
See ‘Precipitation Rate’ below for how the arc setting affects the amount of water applied across the area.

✓ Nozzles and Performance
Eight blue standard and four grey low-angle nozzles are supplied.
Black short-radius nozzle racks are sold separately.
Standard trajectory: 25°. Low-angle trajectory: 13°.

Supplied blue standard and grey low-angle nozzles.
Example comparison at 300 kPa, before radius reduction:
Blue 1.5 nozzle: 9.8 metre radius; 5.9 L/min.
Blue 2.0 nozzle: 10.4 metre radius; 7.2 L/min.
Blue 2.5 nozzle: 10.7 metre radius; 8.9 L/min.
Blue 3.0 nozzle: 11.6 metre radius; 11.4 L/min.
Blue 4.0 nozzle: 12.2 metre radius; 15 L/min.
Blue 5.0 nozzle: 12.8 metre radius; 19 L/min.
Blue 6.0 nozzle: 13.1 metre radius; 22.7 L/min.
Blue 8.0 nozzle: 13.4 metre radius; 30.2 L/min.
Grey 2.0 LA nozzle: 8.2 metre radius; 7.4 L/min.
Grey 2.5 LA nozzle: 9.4 metre radius; 9.8 L/min.
Grey 3.5 LA nozzle: 10.1 metre radius; 12.5 L/min.
Grey 4.5 LA nozzle: 10.1 metre radius; 15.5 L/min.

✓ Adjustment
The top adjustment screw lets you shorten the watering distance. Choose the nozzle for the required watering distance, then use the screw to shorten the radius as needed.

✓ Sprinkler Spacing
Spacing is the distance between neighbouring sprinklers.
For head-to-head coverage, each sprinkler throws water far enough to reach the next sprinkler. This overlap helps water the area between them evenly.
Use the actual watering distance after adjustment when planning the spacing.
A square layout places sprinklers on a square grid. A triangular layout uses staggered rows.

✓ Precipitation Rate
Precipitation rate describes how quickly water is applied across the area, measured in millimetres per hour.
For example, with the blue 3.0 nozzle at 300 kPa, a 180° half-circle arc and sprinklers spaced 11.6 metres apart:
Square layout: 10 mm/hour.
Triangular layout: 12 mm/hour.
At the same pressure, the same nozzle uses essentially the same flow whatever the arc setting. A smaller arc concentrates that water over a smaller area.
Different nozzle sizes can help balance watering between smaller and larger arcs, but they also change the watering distance. Choose nozzles that maintain head-to-head coverage; changing nozzle size alone may not suit an existing layout.
Where suitable nozzle combinations cannot provide similar watering rates, put sprinklers with different watering rates on separate zones so their run times can be set independently.

✓ Operation and Servicing
Automatic arc return restores the original pattern after the turret is moved.
A non-strippable drive protects the mechanism if turned against its direction of travel.
QuickCheck lets you turn the sprinkler head by hand and feel the stops at either end of the watering arc.

✓ Warranty
Five years.
