Hunter I-90 Gear Drive Sprinklers for large turf irrigation. Its robust body is built for a long service life.

The Hunter gear drive adjustment tool is required for arc adjustment and is also used for nozzle installation and radius adjustment.

The I-90 provides long-range watering for large parks, sports fields and other open turf areas. Three nozzles distribute water across the throw, with forward-facing nozzles on the adjustable model and opposing nozzles on the full-circle model.

The adjustable model covers a 20.1–29.6 metre radius across its nozzle configurations. The opposing-nozzle model covers a 22.3–31.4 metre radius. Recommended operating pressure is 550–830 kPa.

The adjustable model sets from 40° to 360°. The opposing-nozzle model waters a fixed 360° full circle. Nozzle selection and operating pressure determine watering distance and flow. Choose the nozzle for both watering distance and arc so sprinklers on the same zone apply water at similar rates.

The 80mm pop-up retracts into a 280mm body with a 40mm BSP female inlet.

The built-in check valve holds back up to 2 metres of elevation, reducing drainage through lower heads after watering.

Supplied with 8 nozzle choices.

✓ Adjustment
The top adjustment screw lets you shorten the watering distance. Choose the nozzle for the required watering distance, then use the screw to shorten the radius as needed.

✓ Sprinkler Spacing
Spacing is the distance between neighbouring sprinklers.
For head-to-head coverage, each sprinkler throws water far enough to reach the next sprinkler. This overlap helps water the area between them evenly.
Use the actual watering distance after adjustment when planning the spacing.
A square layout places sprinklers on a square grid. A triangular layout uses staggered rows.

✓ Precipitation Rate
Precipitation rate describes how quickly water is applied across the area, measured in millimetres per hour.

For example, with the 53 Dark Blue nozzle at 700 kPa, a 180° half-circle arc and sprinklers spaced 26.2 metres apart:
Square layout: 39.3 mm/hour.
Triangular layout: 45.4 mm/hour.

For example, with the 53 Dark Blue nozzle at 700 kPa, a 360° full-circle arc and sprinklers spaced 28 metres apart:
Square layout: 17.1 mm/hour.
Triangular layout: 19.7 mm/hour.
On adjustable models, the same nozzle uses essentially the same flow at the same pressure whatever the arc setting. A smaller arc concentrates that water over a smaller area.
Different nozzle sizes can help balance watering between smaller and larger arcs, but they also change the watering distance. Choose nozzles that maintain head-to-head coverage; changing nozzle size alone may not suit an existing layout.
Where suitable nozzle combinations cannot provide similar watering rates, put sprinklers with different watering rates on separate zones so their run times can be set independently.
