The valve opens for water drawn into the pump and closes against reverse flow. A wide brass body provides space around the internal valve. Selection needs to account for the required pump flow, available suction conditions and the nominal thread size.

Keep the intake submerged and allow access to inspect and clean the strainer. Install with the flow direction towards the pump.
