PVC DWV male iron adaptors have a pipe-size PVC DWV spigot at one end and a male BSP thread at the other.
The spigot has the same approximate outside diameter as matching PVC DWV pipe and fits inside the socket of another fitting. The male BSP thread screws into a fitting or component with a matching female BSP thread.
Join the spigot inside a matching PVC DWV socket using PVC priming fluid and suitable non-pressure PVC solvent cement. This joining method is known as a solvent weld joint, or SWJ.
The DWV spigot size and BSP thread size identify separate connections. Sizes are described in metric measurements, with the nominal imperial BSP equivalent shown in brackets where appropriate.
The fitting body is made from PVC-U. “Male iron” is the traditional name for this type of male threaded connection and does not mean that the fitting is made from iron.
PVC DWV pipe and fittings are identified by nominal size, which may differ from the measured outside diameter.
PVC DWV pipe and fittings are suitable for use in stormwater, sewerage, wastewater, vent, and other non-pressure applications.
