PVC DWV adjustable floor waste gully P traps are used at the base of a floor waste gully to collect floor drainage and permitted fixture waste discharges while maintaining a water seal between the floor waste and the sanitary drainage system.
The P-trap retains a body of water after discharge. This water seal helps prevent sewer gases and odours from travelling back through the floor waste opening.
Each trap has an upper female socket for connecting the floor waste gully riser and an adjustable female socket outlet for connection to the downstream DWV pipe. The adjustable outlet assists with aligning the trap outlet to the drainage pipework during installation.
Both sockets fit over matching PVC DWV pipe and are joined using PVC priming fluid and suitable non-pressure PVC solvent cement. This joining method is known as a solvent weld joint, or SWJ.
These PVC-U traps are designed for non-pressure DWV applications and are commonly used as part of floor waste installations in bathrooms, laundries and other wet areas. The floor waste riser, grate and other components above the trap are separate parts of the complete floor waste gully installation.
