This Franklin 18L pressure tank holds a reserve of water under pressure for domestic water supply, irrigation and pressure-boosting systems. A flexible rubber diaphragm separates the water from compressed air, which pushes water out when a tap opens. This reserve allows smaller amounts of water to be used without starting the pump each time. Fewer starts reduce wear from repeated starting and stopping, helping extend pump life, and can reduce electricity use and running costs. The tank connects vertically to the pump delivery pipework and needs suitable support.
Water connection: 1" BSP male thread.
Nominal tank capacity is the vessel size, not the amount of water available before the pump restarts. Usable draw-off depends on the pump’s start and stop pressures and the tank air charge. Size the tank for the usable draw-off and pump cycling requirements of the system.
The diaphragm separates the stored water from the air cushion. The tank has a corrosion-resistant stainless steel water connection, a butyl-rubber diaphragm and a polyurethane paint finish over an epoxy primer. It is suitable for potable-water systems.
The tank can also be used for suitably designed thermal-expansion applications. Match the tank to the system’s temperature and pressure requirements.
Maximum working pressure is 1000 kPa (145 psi). The tank connects vertically to the pump delivery pipework and needs suitable support. Place floor-mounted tanks on a firm base and support connected pipework.
Set the air charge to suit the pump/controller and system pressures. Release water pressure before checking or adjusting the air charge, and follow the instructions for the actual tank and control type.
Five-year manufacturer tank-replacement guarantee, subject to its terms.
