GRUNDFOS CMB-SP 3-56 PM2 SELF-PRIMING BOOSTER PUMP

The Grundfos CMB-SP 3-56 is a self-priming multistage booster for household water supply, garden watering and light commercial use. The supplied PM2 pressure manager starts and stops the pump automatically and helps protect it if the water supply fails.

✓ CMB-SP 3-56: rated duty 50LPM at 42.1m head
Approximately 56m maximum head; 0.67kW motor
✓ Inlet: 1" BSP female
✓ system outlet: 1" BSP male
✓ PM2 starting pressure adjustable from 150-500kPa; usable settings depend on the pump
✓ Self-priming up to 4m; fill the pump before starting
✓ Single-phase 50Hz supply with Australian plug

Rated duty pairs show flow at the stated head; they are not maximum-flow ratings.

Grundfos CMB-SP self-priming booster with PM2 controller

The Grundfos CMB-SP 3-56 uses a 0.67kW fixed-speed multistage pump for automatic clean-water supply from tanks and other suitable water sources.

CMB-SP 3-56: rated duty 50LPM at 42.1m head.
Approximately 56m maximum pump head; 0.67kW motor.

Inlet: 1" BSP female thread.
System outlet: 1" BSP male thread.

The supplied PM2 pressure manager starts the pump automatically when water is used and stops it when demand ends.

Rated duties are manufacturer flow-and-head reference points at 2900rpm, not maximum-flow ratings. Flow decreases as head increases. Select the pump for the flow and pressure required, allowing for suction lift, pipe friction and height differences.

Use clean fresh water without solid particles or fibres, at temperatures from 0°C to 40°C.

Self-priming does not mean the pump can start dry. Fill the pump casing with clean water through the filling opening before first use, then refit the plug and follow the startup instructions. The standard assembly supports a suction lift of up to 4m, including inlet-pipe losses at 20°C. Keep the suction pipe airtight and the pump close to the water source.

Install on a firm base in a ventilated, weather-protected position, with drainage and protection from frost.

An installer can adjust the starting pressure from 150kPa to 500kPa in 50kPa steps using switches behind the control panel, with the power isolated. This sets when the pump starts; water pressure while it runs depends on the pump and the water being used.

The controller range is wider than the usable range of some pumps. In normal demand control, the pump must be able to provide at least 40kPa above the selected starting pressure, after allowing for inlet conditions.

The pump sleeve, impellers and shaft are stainless steel, with polymer components in the water path. The motor has built-in overload protection, and the pressure manager provides dry-running protection and a non-return valve.

✓ Model Specifications
CMB-SP 3-56
Rated duty: 50LPM at 42.1m head (manufacturer reference at 2900rpm).
Maximum pump head: approximately 56m.
Inlet: 1" BSP female thread.
System outlet: 1" BSP male thread.
Motor output P2: 0.67kW.

✓ Supplied Equipment & Control
The supplied PM2 pressure manager starts the pump automatically when water is used and stops it when demand ends.
No external pressure tank supplied.

✓ Performance
Rated duties are manufacturer flow-and-head reference points at 2900rpm, not maximum-flow ratings. Flow decreases as head increases. Select the pump for the flow and pressure required, allowing for suction lift, pipe friction and height differences.
Maximum heads shown are approximate readings from the manufacturer’s booster curves, not the pressure available at every flow.

✓ Pressure Limits
Maximum system pressure: 1000kPa. Inlet pressure plus pump pressure must stay within this limit.

✓ Water Supply
Use clean fresh water without solid particles or fibres, at temperatures from 0°C to 40°C.

✓ Installation & Priming
Self-priming does not mean the pump can start dry. Fill the pump casing with clean water through the filling opening before first use, then refit the plug and follow the startup instructions. The standard assembly supports a suction lift of up to 4m, including inlet-pipe losses at 20°C. Keep the suction pipe airtight and the pump close to the water source.
Protect the pump and pressure manager from rain, direct sunlight and frost. Follow the supplied instructions for commissioning and pipework arrangement.

✓ Control Settings & Optional Functions
PM2 starting-pressure adjustment range: 150-500kPa, in 50kPa steps.
Usable settings depend on pump capacity and inlet conditions.
With a suitable separate pressure tank, PM2 also offers a mode that stops the pump 100kPa above its starting pressure. This mode requires the pump to provide at least 140kPa above the starting pressure; the normal demand-control mode can be used without an external tank.
Optional PM2 functions include anti-cycling, automatic alarm reset and a 30-minute continuous-run limit. Enable only the functions suitable for the installation. Automatic reset is for installations with positive inlet pressure.

✓ Construction & Protection
The pump sleeve, impellers and shaft are stainless steel, with polymer components in the water path. The motor has built-in overload protection, and the pressure manager provides dry-running protection and a non-return valve.

✓ Electrical Supply
Maximum ambient temperature: 50°C.
Motor enclosure: IP55. Insulation class: F.
Cable: 1.5m with Australian plug.
