PVC DWV reflux valves are installed in a drainage line to allow water and waste to move through the pipe in the correct direction while helping stop reverse flow back towards the property.
Inside the valve, a one-way flap opens as water flows in the correct direction through the pipe and closes when the flow tries to reverse. The flap also helps prevent rodents from travelling through the drainage line.
The valve has one female socket and one pipe-size spigot. The socket fits over matching PVC DWV pipe, while the pipe-size spigot fits inside the socket of another matching fitting.
The valve must be installed horizontally with the top of the unit level and the flow travelling in the direction shown on the body. A built-in 1° fall helps water continue flowing through the valve while the unit remains level.
The top opening allows the internal flap assembly to be inspected, serviced or replaced. For below-ground installations, compatible riser pipe, an access cap and an extension connected to the flap retainer can bring the service access to ground level without requiring a separate chamber. These additional components are not supplied unless stated.
The pipe connections are joined using PVC priming fluid and suitable Type N non-pressure PVC solvent cement to AS/NZS 3879. Installation must comply with AS/NZS 3500.
PVC DWV reflux valves are suitable for compatible non-pressure PVC DWV and stormwater drainage systems. WaterMark certified to WMTS-006:2014.
