PVC DWV D.T. mound and grates are fitted to the top of a DWV gully to provide a finished surround and loose-fit domed grate. They are commonly used on overflow relief gullies connected to the property's sanitary sewer drainage system.
An overflow relief gully provides an external escape point for wastewater if a blockage causes the sewer drainage system to back up. The loose-fit grate allows wastewater to discharge through the gully rather than being trapped beneath a permanently fixed cover.
The mound forms a wider surround around the gully opening and supports the domed grate. The grate can be lifted for access to the gully below and its openings help restrict larger debris from entering.
The female socket fits over matching PVC DWV pipe at the top of the gully. It is joined using PVC priming fluid and suitable non-pressure PVC solvent cement. This is known as a solvent weld joint, or SWJ.
For PVC-U drain, waste and vent systems to AS/NZS 1260.
